After Use: Cleaning and Covering the BBQ

Maintaining the BBQ is crucial for its longevity and your enjoyment. After you finish grilling:

  1. Clean the Grill: Allow the grill to cool slightly, then give it a clean (full instructions below).
  2. Cover the BBQ: Barbados weather can be unpredictable, and sudden rain showers are common. Always cover the BBQ after it cools down to protect it from the elements.

How to Clean our BBQ

To ensure our BBQ remains in excellent condition and your food tastes great, here’s a simple guide on how to clean the BBQ:

  1. Pre-Heat the Grill – Turn the BBQ on high for about 15 minutes before cleaning to burn off any leftover residue.
  2. Scrub the Grates – Once the grill is hot, use a grill brush to scrub the grates clean. If stubborn spots persist, a mixture of vinegar and baking soda can help remove them.
  3. Wipe the Exterior – After the grates are clean and the BBQ is cool, wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.
  4. Check the Burners – Periodically check the burners for clogs and ensure they are in good working order.
  5. Cover the BBQ – Once everything is clean and dry, cover your BBQ to protect it from the elements.

Where to Get the Best Meat for Your BBQ

When you stay at Villa Sunnyside, we recommend visiting Clifton Market or Massy Stores, both located conveniently near the villa. These markets offer a variety of fresh meats perfect for grilling. Massy is cheaper but has less range, Clifton has high-end meats including a huge variety of steak and burgers – its located at Limegrove shopping centre.
