Just Grillin Review

Founded in July 2001, the concept of “Just Grillin'” is to provide high-quality grilled food in a laid-back, affordable setting. Diners place their orders with the cashier, and once their food is ready, they collect it directly.

Just Grillin use a unique blend of Jerk and Bajan seasonings, marinating the meats to create flavors that are both distinctive and delicious.

The restaurant’s signature Barbeque Sauce, with its sweet and slightly spicy profile, enhances the flavor of various dishes, from burgers to steaks, making it a favorite among patrons. Due to its growing popularity, “Just Grillin'” expanded by opening its second location in Holetown on the West Coast in January 2008. This one is a 5 minute walk from Villa Sunnyside, in Holetown.

Our Visit to Just Grillin

Whenever we visit Barbados, Just Grillin is a regular stop for us. It’s convenient as it’s located just across the road from the Sunset Crest Beach Club, so it’s an easy and quick choice when hunger strikes after a day in the pool or at the beach. This location makes it a popular spot for both tourists and locals, especially during lunchtime when it can get quite busy.

The quality of the food at Just Grillin is consistently good, and not only that the prices are more reasonable compared to some other local dining options like Tides or Paul Owens. This makes it a great spot for families and those looking to enjoy a delicious meal without breaking the bank.

Inside, the restaurant is simple but pleasant. It has a canteen-like atmosphere with dark wooden furniture and wooden shutters, giving it a rustic charm. While there is no air conditioning, the open design allows for a good breeze, making it comfortable inside – plus outside there are plenty of benches.

The ordering system at Just Grillin is straightforward but requires a bit of self-service. You place your food and drink orders at the counter, and when your food is ready, they call your number for pickup. For drinks, you need to take your receipt to the bar to collect them yourself. While this system generally works well, it can be a bit inconvenient if you want a second drink with your meal, as you have to queue up again.

Despite this minor inconvenience, the food’s value for money is excellent. Our kids usually enjoy the jumbo hot dogs, while I often go for the grilled catch of the day, which typically features mahi-mahi as its one of the most commonly caught fish in Barbados. The consistent quality and flavour make it a reliable choice. Sometimes, we opt for takeaway and enjoy our meals back at the villa, perfect for a relaxing night in.

Overall, Just Grillin is one of our favourite places to eat as it offers good food, reasonable prices, and a laid-back atmosphere.

I love to travel with my family. Over the years, we’ve found ourselves coming back to the magic of Sunset Crest. So much so, that we finally decided to take the plunge and buy Villa Sunnyside in 2022!
